Farmer's Market Bounty and TWD

Yowza was it HOT this past Sunday! We walked over to the West End Farmer's Market with the goal of buying "summer fruit" for this week's TWD. Summer Fruit Galette was chosen by Michelle; see her blog for the recipe. This got a big thumbs up from DH. I halved the recipe and made a mini galette.

Instead of making the custard (how does one measure half an egg? - that's rhetorical!) I wanted to use the mascarpone I purchased at the Kingstowne Farmer's marker the week before. I mixed roughly 2 tablespoons mascarpone with a few teaspoons of sugar and a dash of vanilla extract. It was slightly sweet and great alongside our Sunday night treat.

I agree with the others; mascarpone would be a lovely complement to this summery goodness. Great job!

Beautiful! I love the pinwheel/sunflower effect of the sliced peaches.

The custard was nice, but I'm sure mascarpone on the side was great too!
